Join internationally renowned teacher Barb Leese for an immersive Fascial Yin Yoga training designed for yoga teachers, movement professionals, and curious students looking to deepen their understanding of the body’ s fascial system and the Yin approach to asana.

🔹 Training Overview

This 40-hour program blends theory and practice in a split format:

  • 10 Hours Online (Pre-recorded): Begin your journey at your own pace with online content accessible one month prior to the training

  • 30 Hours In-Person: Deepen your understanding through four days of guided instruction, hands-on learning, and embodied practice with Barb and co-teacher Christine Grant.

  • Sunday the 10th: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

THE INWARD JOURNEY

Over this course you can expect to

  1. Gain a deep understanding of Yin yoga: its origins, what sets it apart from other yoga practices, and its importance for us as a society as well as for you as an individual.

  2. Understand what fascia, biotensegrity and embodiment is and why it's important for healing and for yoga.

  3. Experience fascia and fascial-based healing in your own body and other bodies.

  4. Experience Yin yoga practiced through a fascial framework.

  5. Gain an understanding of trauma responses in the body and why they are important both from a yogic philosophy as well as from a fascial framework.

  6. Investigate the nervous system, stress paradigm, window of tolerance and polyvagal theories and how they relate to Yin yoga and Myofascial Release.

  7. Explore almost 30 Yin poses in depth: anatomical considerations, many modifications and awareness to avoid injury.

  8. Teaching practicum to understand how to put together a Yin yoga class using all the senses as well as how to transition through poses and create a cohesive class that your students will love and benefit from.

  9. Practice grounding and breath work to look inward

  10. Explore subtle anatomy through direct experiences of the energy body, the vayues, the koshas, the chakra system and its connection to fascia.

  11. Access deeper healing within your body/mind/spirit and new ways of exploring hidden parts of yourself and be able to incorporate some of these practices in your yoga and classes.

  12. Own a comprehensive manual as a reference for the material above along with colour photos and descriptions of each yin yoga posture.

BARB LEESE BIO

A recipient of Burlington’s Civic Recognition Award for International Achievements, Barb is an experienced and committed educator with a passion for the arts and yoga and a vocation for instilling a love of learning to assist people in finding personal wellness and performance excellence.


Barb’s passion for health and mind/body wellness began at the age of ten training professionally with Canada’s National Ballet School. Joining the National Ballet of Canada as a classical dancer, at age 17, for a decade Barb performed across Canada, The States and through out Europe performing with dance legends, Eric Bruhn, Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Natalia Makarova. Her career then shifted to musical theatre, credits include the Phantom of the Opera Toronto and International touring companies as performer, dance captain and associate director.

Holding a Masters Degree from York University, Barb is currently on faculty at Sheridan College, teaching anatomy/physiology and dance technique for the Bachelor of Musical Theatre Performance program. As a guest presenter at IADMS International Conference 2019, Barb
contributed beneficial approaches for streamed programs in post secondary dance training to a global network of medical professionals, educators, dancers, and researchers helping to elevate dance training

Barb holds certifications in various styles of yoga, personal training and mind/body techniques, all of which enable her to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to her teaching over the last 30 years. Her guest lecturing and workshops on the effects and manifestations of stress have been enjoyed and appreciated by various groups looking to move towards greater wellness.

Barb has trained numerous students in her 200hr Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teacher Training program which she has run for the last fifteen years. Barb has begun to unfold a 300hr yoga training program bringing together some of the top wellness educators across Canada.


Her vast teaching experience has expanded to New York City, co-teaching/creating modules in BodeNYC’s OHYA registered Teacher Training Program where she also launched her 40hr Fascial-Yin training, The Inward Journey in 2019. Barb has co-created and launched an online teaching platform thelotusedge.com offering pre-recorded Yoga training programs of fascial-yin work. Barb continues her association with pivotdancer.com “helping to bring science into the studio” on multiple levels. Forever the student, Barb recently added two years of studies at the RYT 500 level to her credentials Barb is delighted to be using all of her experience and knowledge to assist people in finding personal wellness and performance excellence through the mind/body connection of yoga and dance.
